Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association Annual Conference

The Colorado Dry Bean Committee is a proud sponsor of the Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association (CFVGA)! At their annual meeting in February 2023, we had a table and sponsored bean breakout sessions.

We were also thrilled to see Colorado beans on the menu multiple times at the conference! Thank you for showcasing delicious local beans, CFVGA.

One breakout session was about agronomy and highlighted recent research on black-eyed peas. Jason Webb, Colorado State University (CSU) Extension Specialist Sally Jones-Diamond, and CSU Extension Water Resources Specialist Joel Schneekloth shared about the work they are doing.

The other session was about market opportunities for dry beans. Jed Brazier, the Marketing & Communications Director for Northarvest, was a guest speaker for the marketing session. We also heard from two other guest speakers, Kevin of Sheridan Acres and Virginia of Firefly Fields, who both farm in Michigan. We very much appreciate you all sharing your marketing insights!

Thank you to everyone at CFVGA for putting on an absolutely fantastic conference, full of delicious Colorado produce at meals and thought-provoking breakout sessions!

The day after the 2023 CFVGA annual conference, many of us also attended the Colorado Agriculture Forum to continue the conversation and discuss the importance of agriculture to our state. We are glad that beans are a key part of that story!
